We’ve got a beautiful campsite with red rock views, and we’re planning out all the things we want to do and see while we’re in Kanab. This is a central location for a few national parks, but there’s also lots of local hiking trails and beautiful views to take in!

From Homolovi State Park in Arizona to Kanab, Utah – the landscape just gets more and more fascinating. This is the most scenic travel day we’ve had yet!

Plus, now that we’re here, we’re going to take a short break from life on the road. We’ll stay here for a while so that we can explore what southern Utah has to offer!

Petrified Forest National Park

We’ve been on the road for a couple weeks now, so it’s no surprise that things are breaking. But today’s was a big one.

The main event is our first national park! We stayed at a campground that is barely outside the park boundary and thoroughly explored the Petrified Forest. There’s more than just mineralized wood to see here!

We’ve made it to the southwest! We were immediately greeted by a tumbleweed. We did a little exploring, did a little drone-flying, and had a little encounter with the local wildlife – a tarantula! We’re amped about where we are and what’s to come!

We did it! We’re out of Michigan and heading towards warmer weather. We covered a lot of ground very quickly, because we’re so late in the season. It wasn’t a terribly fun trip, but we saw some sights and spent plenty of time outside.

October is Harvest Season?

When you’re late to everything, even harvest season arrives late. We pulled everything out of the garden, then moved it. We turned fresh tomatillos into salsa verde, canned grape juice, and enjoyed the fall colors. Plus, big exciting news for our travels!
